    Next Meeting: Tuesday – September 25, 2017

Guest Speaker:  Senator Daniel Kagan – District 26

PLEASE COME TO MEET A STATE SENATOR
WHO IS WORKING TO MAKE OUR WORLD A BETTER PLACE

In March 2009 Senator Kagan was appointed by a Democratic Party vacancy committee to the Colorado House of Representatives to fill the vacancy caused by Anne McGihon‘s resignation. Subsequently elected and re-elected in the 2010, 2012, and 2014 general elections, he represented House District 3, which encompasses south Denver.   In the 2016 general election, he was elected to District 26 of the Colorado Senate, beating his Republican opponent with 53.48% of the vote.

Senator Kagan earned his B.S. in public affairs from George Washington University in 1984 and his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1987.

As a  member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Kagan deals with legislation affecting the process of litigation, both civil and criminal. Bills passing through the Judiciary Committee have expanded access to the courts for ordinary people, provided counsel to low-income litigants, and the Judiciary Committee frequently considers far-reaching amendments to the criminal and civil law of Colorado. The committee oversees, among other things, the Colorado Courts, Homeland Security, the Colorado State Patrol, and the Department of Corrections, including its Division of Parole, which Daniel reformed, in cooperation with Rep. Bob Gardner (R-Colorado Springs) in 2014.

Plan to join us at our monthly General Meeting for Information and find the support that may be missing in your life.  Together we can make a difference.
